Often you have a text design you want to cut out on your laser cutter, it’s important that all of the sections of the font are connected to hold the graphic together. Had a question. So far I am not able to do any 2.5D work on the machine so am looking for software settings that allow me to use 3d grayscale images to produce relief with contours. On my Epilog CO2 machines there is a 3D options but I cannot locate this when switching over to the Galvo. Finally would appreciate a new settings table as the included documentation is limited to just a small handful of substrates. Thanks!

    • @epiloglaser

      The idea is to elevate the acrylic to reduce backside reflection, so just about anything around your shop would work. Some people stack coins under each corner, or you can elevate it using Legos or other blocks. You just want to elevate it a few inches - it results in a smoother cut.

    What factors do you consider when choosing the frequency?

    • @epiloglaser
      @epiloglaser 5 місяців тому

      Frequency plays a crucial role in achieving clean and precise cuts across various materials when cutting with your Epilog Laser machine. In the case of wood, in order to minimize the charring on the cut edge we recommend a lower frequency to achieve less burning/charring, but thicker and more dense the woods may require a bit high frequency to achieve a clean cut in one pass. When cutting materials like acrylic, plexi, and sign plastic, we recommend higher frequencies to achieve a clean polished edge that requires no or very little clean up.

    Is anyone else having major problems with this machine and lack of support? I purchased mine in 2020 during the pandemic and feel like they may have been having some manufacturing issues during that time. I’ve been getting the runaround for years from epilogs technicians. Spent $50,000 and cannot cut anything. I own a fusion edge, small machine and have to cut everything on that machine.

      We have over 10 of their lasers, our two pros are by far the most problematic. The dual worm gear y axis rails have been the cause of most of our issues. That as well as random boards going bad. Though their support has been alright.

    I wasn't aware you could do these without the rotary. How do you keep the aspect ratio correct on the sides/slopes? This has my brain in over-drive right now. - Also, need to try the foam. I cannot seem to cut through foam without the charring/yellowing...

    • @epiloglaser
      @epiloglaser 5 місяців тому

      Hi Rick - the visual "stretching" of the logo at this size is very minimal, one mm or two or each side, so there is very little need to contract the artwork horizontally in this case. As for the polyethylene foam, we've used the same foam over and over for various projects like tool shadowing and decorate signage, it works great! Here is Laser Project: Sample Club we created with the source of the foam included in the article. www.epiloglaser.com/resources/sample-club/laser-cutting-foam-letters/ Hope this helps!

In order to add more versatility to all your laser Jobs, we do also have the option to set your Laser up so that the laser bed work area is your default size, but this is completely up to you and your preference. Either way, both options and workflows exist so you can work the way you're used to with our laser machines.

    Quick note about wetting your leather, don't try to stamp the leather if it's still soaking wet. Once wet, allow it to dry to the point it's cool, but not damp on the surface. This is called "casing" the leather and it will create a much better impression. You just need the water to help glue the fibers together. Too much water makes it too spongy and it will not hold the shape as well.

If you cant print the guides on the object (like a finished product, a cup, a guitar etc), you would have to eyeball the placement.

    What is the difference between your Galvo and Fusion M2 Fiber laser machines?

    • @rlayoutube
      @rlayoutube 6 місяців тому

      The FusionM2 Fiber is a "flatbed" table with a large marking/etching area (32"x20" or 40"x28'). Galvo Lasers (most all brands & models have 4"x4" or 6" x 6" marking field; that can be expanded depending on the lens configuration. Each has their strengths. The choice of which one is best is dependent on the workflow, volume, size of parts etc.... Additionally, a Galvo can achieve DEPTH in metal, whereas a Flatbed fiber laser is pretty much only a surface etch mark. - Randy Allen
